Precise cable lengths, continuous production

The cable is cut precisly to the needed length.

Description

Our Cutter SX 35 is designed for continuous production to cut unarmoured 1 - 35 mm cable. The cutter is automatically controlled at an actual line speed of 5 - 40 m/min. A stand is provided for placing the cutter in line height. The cutter can be run continuously to cut the cable into 675 mm long pieces. Two feeding wheels driven by the main drive are provided. After the cut, an additional short length of the cable is fed through the machine. The operator can easily grasp and pull the cable forward. A free wheel mechanism prevents the end of the cable from being pulled backward and lost. The feeding wheels are separated by the operator by using a reset push-button.

Technical characteristics

Cable diameter, max. 35 mm unarmoured
Cable cross section, max. 120 mm² copper
Cable diameter, max. 15 mm

Exact values depend on the assembly.

Run Times Reach New Heights

26.2.2020

The performance of extruded high voltage XLPE insulated cables is improvable by reducing the degassing burden and realizing longer extrusion run times. Development towards those goals was rendered possible after years of close technical collaboration with material suppliers and cable manufacturers. Read more

Astonishing Curing Calculation for Flexible Factory Joints

29.1.2020

Flexible vulcanized joints (FVJ) also known as flexible factory joints are typically used in extending delivery lengths of extruded subsea cables. Lengths of XLPE insulated cable core are often limited by the capacity of extrusion, degassing or basket lay-up. Factory joints overcome these constraints. Read more

Composite Pipe Production Doubled without trouble

22.1.2020

Since two decades, Maillefer has been providing production systems for manufacturing multi-layer composite pipe with diameters ranging from 14 to 32 mm and from 16 to 63 mm. Today, our two model lines, the PCL32 and PCL63 that cover the two size ranges have evolved much. We are closer to 60 m/min, which first presented serious challenges to polymer and aluminum tape suppliers. Read more

New in EHV cable production

13.1.2020

Two X-ray gauges are used in CV lines to measure thicknesses, concentricity & diameter during production of MV, HV and EHV cables. Now, the second gauge at the cold end (after end seal) is orientable to give a synchronized visual of measurements taken by the 1st gauge at the hot end. Read more
